一、课程的性质及任务
《综合英语》是一门综合技能课,其主要目的在于培养和提高学生综合运用英语的能力。本课程主要通过语言基础训练与篇章讲解分析,使学生逐步提高语篇阅读理解能力,了解英语各种文体的表达方式和特点,扩大词汇量和熟悉英语常用句型,具备基本的口头和笔头表达能力。教师应鼓励学生积极参与课堂的各种语言交际活动以获得基本的交际技能,并达到新《大纲》所规定的听、说、读、写、译等技能的要求。
二、本课程的基本内容
《综合英语》教学的主要内容包括:
语法掌握系统的基本英语语法,并能在综合运用中作到概念清楚,形式正确。
词汇要认知5,000 -- 6,000 左右个词汇,熟练掌握其中2,000 -- 2,500个最基本的搭配, 能在口语和写作中灵活正确运用。
功能意念用英语正确表达规定的功能意念,以达到实际交流运用的目的。教学方式:课堂教授与多媒体教学结合,学生课堂情景对话并课后练习。其内容包括:劝说/影响别人、情态,思想态度、交流思想、表态、感情喜恶、组织思想和语言等。
交际能力 运用习得的语言知识和语言技能在规定范围内进行交际,具体的参数为:行为类型,身份和情景,语篇类型,题材范围,语篇规格,基础能力及促成技能。此六项参数互为组合而得出各项具体明确的交际行为,英语专业学生必须从中培养出交际能力。
阅读理解阅读英语国家中等程度的各种材料和文章:新闻,电讯,特写,短文,电报,史地,传记,游记,科普文章等,阅读速度为每分钟80个词,了解中心大意,抓住主要论点和情节,能根据所读材料进行推理和分析,领会作者的真实意图。
写作习作不同题材的文章,如:记叙文,议论文,应用文等;学习写摘要,提纲和笔记; 练习笔头回答问题,复述内容; 根据题目在一小时内写出200-250词的短文, 做到内容完整, 条理清楚, 语法基本正确, 语言通顺、流畅。
听说收听外文广播新闻(VOA,BBC,CRI),TOEFL听力中的小型对话及其它听力材料;在课堂及课外学习用英语进行日常生活和社会生活交谈; 练习在15分钟内听写200 词的英语短文。

3. To grasp basic writing techniques--- the parallel structure;
4. To improve Students’ comprehensive abilities: listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating.

2. To help Ss grasp basic writing techniques--- comparison, simile and metaphor;
3. To grasp the writing of argumentation;

2. To guide the students to cherish the value of true friendship;
3. To grasp the style of persuasive writing in narration;

1. To understand two classes of people, the neat and the sloppy;
2. To be familiar with the writing of an exposition in the form of comparison and contrast.
(二)教学重点与难点:
1. The analysis of Text I;
2. The pun in “batting clean-up and striking out”;
3. The writing of an exposition in the form of comparison and contrast.

Unit Twelve
(一)教学目的与要求:
Enable Ss
1. to know some information about Abraham Lincoln;
2. to learn the two famous speeches;
3. to identify the writing style of Reading I & II, and learn to compose a speech;
4. to learn the writing skills of the speeches;
5. to guide Ss to be country- loving and promote the development of democracy
through the review of the American Civil War.
(二)教学重点与难点:
Make sure that the Ss understand the following points:
1.the analysis to the passages;
2 .the grasping of the writing skills of the addresses;
3. the enjoying of some long sentences, esp. those from Lincoln’s;
4. knowing how to give a good speech in public and how to improve communication effectiveness.

2. Text II: On Accepting Nobel Prize
3. Composition writing---- Persuasion and narration

三、教学方法:
多媒体、课堂授课与文学作品赏析、讨论、网络资源相结合
四、成绩考核方式:
闭卷考试,成绩比例:期末考试80%,平时20%。
